Two Towns Over From Our Shop
Burlington doesn't touch Tewksbury. Billerica and Wilmington sit in between, and it's about a 20-minute drive from our shop. We've completed roofing and siding jobs in Burlington.
Most of the town went up fast. Burlington had 3,250 people in 1950 and almost 22,000 by 1970, after Route 128 opened it up to the rest of the region, and the 1950s alone built more of today's houses than any other decade. So a lot of what we see here is a 1950s or 1960s house on its second or third roof.
The town's own plan describes the north side as mostly single-family streets and the south as the commercial side. Some houses predate the boom: in the Winnmere and Havenville section, 1920s summer cottages became year-round homes during the Depression.
