Senco Home Services is a licensed siding contractor serving Lowell, MA. Lowell's housing is old, and a re-side here usually starts with what's under the old siding rather than the new one. Our crews strip it, fix what they find, waterproof every seam and corner, and back the work in writing. For our full materials and process, see the main siding page.
Census data puts the median Lowell home at 1942, and about half the city's housing units are in buildings from before 1940. A house that old can be wearing its second or third exterior, with older siding left on underneath and trim that's been patched and painted for decades. We take it down to a surface we can trust, repair the sheathing and rotted trim, and detail the windows, doors and corners before any new siding goes up. The Lowell Historic Board reviews work in 11 districts: Downtown, the Acre, Andover Street, Belvidere Hill, Livingston-Harvard, Rogers Fort Hill Park, South Common, Tyler Park, Wannalancit Street, Washington Square and Wilder Street. The rules aren't the same in all of them. Downtown's standards go furthest, down to roofing materials. The nine neighborhood districts' 2012 standards focus on demolition and new construction, and for new buildings they prefer natural materials and rate fiber cement and cellular PVC trim ahead of vinyl and aluminum. The board's advice is to ask its staff, so if your building is in a district, we do that before we quote materials.
A three-family on a corner lot and a single-family cape don't always want the same siding. We'll walk you through the trade-offs for your building before you decide.
Available in 4″ and 5″ exposure. Durable, the most affordable option, and quick to install on long wall runs.
Available in 5″ and 7″ exposure. A cedar-shingle look in multiple colors, nearly maintenance-free; a garden hose cleans it.
James Hardie-style fiber cement looks like real wood, resists fire and takes paint. It costs more, and Lowell's historic standards rate it ahead of vinyl for new construction.
Clapboard, lap siding, shakes and shingles for the traditionalist. With proper maintenance, wood siding lasts 20 to 40 years.

New siding is one of the biggest investments in a building's exterior, and loose flashing or a skipped seam means water finds its way in a few years later. Our crews are licensed and insured, and we've run jobs out of our Tewksbury shop for seven years.
Senco is based at 1150 Main St in Tewksbury. Main Street turns into Rogers Street at the Lowell line, about 5 miles and 10 minutes from the shop. Parts of Belvidere and South Lowell were Tewksbury land until 1888 and 1906.
We cover all eight of Lowell's neighborhoods: the Acre, Back Central, Belvidere, Centralville, Downtown, the Highlands, Pawtucketville and South Lowell. About a quarter of the city's housing units are in two-family and three- and four-unit buildings, which means more wall, more stories and more trim per job than a typical single-family. We stage it, schedule it with the owner, and quote it as the building it is.
Lowell requires a building permit for siding from the Division of Development Services at City Hall, 375 Merrimack Street, 2nd floor, Room 55 (978-674-4144). The city's published fee is $50 for the first $1,000 of cost, plus $10 for each additional $1,000. We pull it as part of the job, and if the building is in a historic district, we talk to the Historic Board's staff on the same floor first.
Freeze-thaw cycles and driving rain work on old clapboard and first-generation vinyl until the seams open and water gets behind the wall. So every siding job we run starts with waterproofing at the seams, corners and window trim.
Tewksbury is home base, and we cover the cities and towns around it:
One local siding contractor for the material, the install, the paperwork, and financing if you need it.
A durable, budget-friendly replacement for old clapboard or tired vinyl, with little upkeep once it's on the wall.
A cedar-shingle look for a Lowell house without the painting schedule.
Paintable and fire-resistant, and rated ahead of vinyl in the Historic Board's standards for new construction.
Rotted trim, sills and sheathing on an older Lowell house repaired before the new siding goes on.
Every install includes waterproofing at seams, corners and trim, built in from the start.
New siding now, pay later: 0% financing for 12 months through GreenSky, plus 10- and 15-year plans.
Need more than siding? We also do roof replacement in Lowell and seamless gutters and fascia in Lowell, one crew for the whole exterior. For a leak rather than a re-side, our Lowell repair crew can usually be there within 48 hours.

We had an excellent experience with Senco. Chris was amazing! He was professional, patient, explained things clearly and answered all our questions. He always returned our phone inquiries. He and his workers went above and beyond our expectations. His crew replaced our roof in one day. Clean up was great. We also had Senco remove the ice dams prior to having the roof replaced. Once again, Senco's pricing was fair, the crew was hard working and responsive to any concerns we may have had. I highly recommend this company and would use them again.Elaine Levine · Google Review
Senco did many homes in my neighborhood. I recognized their competence, honesty and quality right away and knew I had to have the Senco team on my roof too. Very satisfied with all aspects of the demolition and installation which was quite complex. Replaced facia boards with AZEK, new gutters, and a new roof. Thanks again Senco!! Excellent job!!Jim O. · Google Review
Owner, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. He always responded promptly to our questions and we always felt we were important to him. His crew worked so great together, like they never had to ask each other for anything, they just knew what was next. The job was started earlier than planned and everything was done above and beyond what one would expect. We would, and have, already recommended Senco Home Services to other homeowners and look forward to having him back to replace our old windows. Thank you, Chris, for making this an easy decision for us and for providing quality workmanship. Stephen and Melissa Spinosa in BurlingtonJenna Spinosa · Google Review

Lowell siding questions
Yes. Siding is on the city's list of work that needs a building permit, issued by the Division of Development Services at City Hall, 375 Merrimack Street, 2nd floor, Room 55 (978-674-4144). The city's published fee is $50 for the first $1,000 of cost, plus $10 for each $1,000 after that. We pull the permit as part of every siding job.
It depends on the district, so we ask before we quote. The Lowell Historic Board reviews work in 11 districts. Downtown's standards go furthest, down to roofing materials. In the nine neighborhood districts, the 2012 standards review demolition and new construction, and for new buildings they prefer natural materials and rate fiber cement and cellular PVC ahead of vinyl and aluminum. The board says to check with its staff, and we do that first.
About half of Lowell's housing units are in buildings from before 1940, and a house that old has had a long time to collect layers. Before we pick a siding, we look at what's underneath: the sheathing, the window and door trim, and any rot around the sills. That condition decides the job more than the siding profile does, and we price it before we start.
Yes. About a quarter of Lowell's housing units are in two-family and three- and four-unit buildings. A taller building means staging, more wall and more trim to detail, so we quote it as its own job and set the schedule with the owner.
Vinyl lap siding (4″ and 5″ exposure) is a durable, low-maintenance, budget-friendly replacement for wood clapboard. Vinyl cedar impressions (5″ and 7″ exposure) give you a shingle look in multiple colors with the same low upkeep. Both hold up well against New England weather.
Yes. Any customer who has new siding installed by Senco also gets free gutter installation, because siding and gutters work together to keep water away from the building. We include waterproofing on every siding job as well.
Yes. Through our lending partner GreenSky, you can finance siding with 0% financing for 12 months (no interest, no payments), plus 10- and 15-year plans. The credit check is a soft pull and won't affect your score. See your financing options.
