Two Permits for Siding in Reading

We file with the Building Division at Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street (781-942-6613) and make sure both are in place before the old siding comes off.

If your home is in Reading's local historic district, siding needs a certificate from the Historic District Commission before the building permit can be issued. The Commission's guidelines say aluminum, vinyl, and other synthetic siding is "generally discouraged" in the district.
